Have you ever had these thoughts?

“My son is in Kindergarten. It takes us all morning to get through every subject and by the time we’re done, he’s tired and frustrated…and so am I!”

“My daughter has dreams to a write a novel. I want to help her, but by the time we’re done with math, science, language arts, history, and geography, there is simply no time for her to pursue anything so consuming.”

“We have elderly parents living with us and a child with special needs. The fact that we are homeschooling at all is an achievement, but fitting in anything fun is simply not possible.”

“Once we tried ‘unschooling’ and my son’s test scores plummetted. He had fun that year, but we can’t afford to get so off track.”

Do any of these concerns, frustrations, or fears resonate with you? Is homeschooling not exactly what you had pictured? Do you desire to disciple your children, or even just spend a day having fun with them, but are afraid their academics may slip? Do you wish in your heart that you could give your children a great education, but still enjoy life together without the fear of holes in their education?

It is possible.

In fact, at the Lifeschooling Conference and Activities Fair, we will show you why it is the best way to learn and how you can transform your entire experience of homeschooling! We will show you how you can work with (not against) your life and the circumstances God brings into it to create learning and discipleship experiences not found in any textbook. Because here’s a little secret…

God’s school is LIFE

It is our training ground. We learn through the circumstances and experiences He allows and through the specific paths on which he guides each of us individually.

Lifeschooling is the individualized process of discovering your child’s God-given gifts and talents through real life experiences that happen within the context of your family’s unique situations and missions.

Won’t you come join us as we explore this idea of “lifeschooling” together?

Here is what you will learn:
  • How to balance your family life with academics
  • How to discover your children’s gifts
  • How to plan a manageable homeschool year
  • Why the homeschool “pioneers” were so successful and how you can be, too
  • How to homeschool through ministry
  • Why your own dreams and aspirations do not have to die when you homeschool
  • How starting a business will educate your children better than traditional methods of homeschooling
  • How to homeschool from faith, not fear
  • Why not every child needs to go to college to succeed and how to homeschool with the end in mind
  • Why college is only a means to an end (possibly)…and not the end in itself
  • And much more!

The beautiful campus of Southern Evangelical Seminary at 3000 Tilley Morris Rd, Matthews, NC 28105.

Learn to think in a holistic, Hebraic manner rather than with a Westernized, segmented mindset. Challenge your view of education with outside-the-box ideas for activities, ministries, and entrepreneurial ventures that are learning experiences in their own rite!

Vending and dining area

There are plenty of restaurant options in the area, but the facility also has vending machines and a dining area with seating and microwave available for those who wish to bring their own lunches on Thursday. (Friday is reserved for the VIP lunch).

There is a broad range of hotel options in the area, including the upscale Ballantyne Resort. We have also secured special rates at several local hotels (see below).

Even after a decade and a half of homeschooling, I crave the refreshment of renewed vision. The Lifeschooling Conference offers opportunities to learn, to grow, and to garner new ideas to keep our family learning and serving together!

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I get to the venue?

Southern Evangelical Seminary is conveniently located near 485. The map and contact details are listed below. You will also receive a confirmation email with location map.

Are there special activities planned for the children?

During the conference portion (Thursday and Friday), there will not be any special activities planned. We encourage families to do some lifeschooling by having their children sit with them through the sessions! You will be amazed what even your little ones will pick up on. Of course, you are also welcome to bring crayons, paper, etc. to help occupy them. We will also have a game room available for those who need a little break, and the front lawn is also an option for running off extra energy!

What about accommodation?

We are working to secure discounted rooms at several nearby hotels. The cost of the hotel accommodation and travel is not included in the event fee.

Where can I eat? Do I need to bring food?

There are many great restaurant options near the facility, but you may also bring a bagged lunch on Thursday to eat in the dining area or outside (seating is limited). On Friday, we will need the dining space for our VIP Speaker Luncheon.

What should I bring with me?

Be sure to bring supplies for note-taking! Also, you may want to bring a light sweater, as conference rooms can get quite cold. Some parents of younger children find that having a tablet or something else to occupy their children is helpful.

What payment types do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover cards only.

Can I get a refund on my tickets?

All tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by us, in which case we will always provide a full refund. If your plans change, you can always sell your tickets or donate them to another family.

I run a business. Are there vendor spaces available?

We may still have space available for vendors whose businesses are homeschool-related. For all the details, please see the vendor page.

As a vendor, may I get a refund if I am unable to attend?

All tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by us, in which case we will always provide a full refund. If you are unable to attend, you may choose to donate or sell your table space to another vendor.

We are grateful to our sponsors for supporting our mission! Please visit their sites below.
