“Lifeschooling: The Answer to Homeschool Burnout”

Danielle Papageorgiou

Have you heard of lifeschooling and do you know why it is so revolutionary in our current homeschooling environment? Do you long for more time and less stress in your homeschool? As homeschooling has become much more popular, we see more and more families (not just moms!) suffering from homeschool burnout. As a movement, we have slowly lost the wisdom of the early pioneers. Danielle will explain the philosophy of lifeschooling, which is really just a fresh label for a returning to the ancient paths (Jeremiah 6:16). She will also give a brief overview of what the expect from the conference and speakers.

“Whatever the Cost”

David and Jason Benham
Hear the captivating story of twin brothers, David and Jason Benham, as they lost their HGTV reality television show for standing up for biblical principles. Their story will inspire and encourage you to stand up for what is right.

“How to Lifeschool: Merging a ‘Master Plan’ with The Master’s Plan”

Danielle Papageorgiou

“A man plans his steps, but the Lord orders his ways.”
Does the following scenario sound familiar to anyone? You have it all figured out. You, the wise instructor, see the holes in your child’s education and you know what needs to be done. The curriculum is all purchased to fill said holes and carry on with the master plan. (Even if it may not quite be The Master’s plan).

Now to make a schedule! All is going so well. After hours of tweaking, the schedule fits perfectly and looks so beautiful all printed up and hanging on your wall. You are determined to stay on track and have a wonderful year. And about two weeks into your school year, after an unexpected guest, an emergency trip to the ER, and several particularly trying disciplinary moments, you suddenly realize (again), that the perfect schedule never quite works with reality.

Lifeschooling sounds nice and you fully embrace the concept, but just can’t quite figure out how to make it work with your need to schedule and organize. This presentation will help those with more scheduled personalities, as well as those with more of an unschooling approach, to find the practical ways to schedule their lifeschooling, while still allowing God to direct each day and holding loosely to the plan.

“The Principles of Entrepreneurial Education”

Rhea Perry

In our attempts at educating our children according to state-mandated guidelines, we seem to have forgotten the purpose of education. It’s not just to “get a diploma,” it is to prepare them to earn a living with an enjoyable career in the real world. Getting the diploma is just part of the process.

Our focus instead, should be on discovering with each of our children, who they are, their natural giftings, and what they want to pursue as a career. Then we should tailor their education to serve those purposes.

In this session, you will learn how to help your children:

  • discover their own directions, especially with a focus on home business
  • learn how to use their specific gifts and talents to glorify God doing what they love
  • develop an investment mindset rather than a consumer mindset which is part of the foundation every entrepreneur
  • and eventually become financially free.

“How to Loosen Up Without Losing Control”

Dr. Mary Hood

Dr. Hood discusses the importance of parents being in control of their children’s education, paying less attention to the dictates of outside forces, (such as accreditation and/or Common Core objectives) and making their own decisions concerning the overall direction of their home school. It will include a discussion on goal setting.

“Oh the Places You’ll Go: melding missions and a lifestyle of learning”

Christopher and Heather Schwarzen

Fifteen years of planting the seeds of the Gospel around the world has taught Christopher and Heather Schwarzen that sometimes, the lifestyle IS the lesson. The Great Commission calls us to create disciples in our own town and around the globe, starting with our own families. A clear family vision can help you do both! But how do you refine that vision? And what does the practical side of raising kids, homeschooling, and missions look like?

“Regaining the Spirit of the Pioneers”

Dr. Mary Hood

Mary talks about the early days of the movement, discusses some of the dangers of current trends, and makes suggestions for how to get back the spirit of the early homeschoolers.

“Great Expectations! Now What?”

Christi Deason

Lifeschooling sounds exciting and is a new concept to many people. You may have doubts about the outcome for your children. Will this work? Will my plans for my children succeed? Each of us have expectations, desires, doubts, and presuppositions that shape our approach to homeschooling…lifeschooling.

In this interactive session we will learn about evaluating your expectations, identifying ideas that are roadblocks to advancing, and navigating a path to success.

“How to Homeschool Your Teens for Business”

Rhea Perry

The way parents homeschool their children is just as important as the curriculum they use. To become successful leaders in the realm of business, students need a more specialized skill base. This unique session will explore at least five aspects of business that young people need to master in order to become leaders.

“Unleashing the Power of Mentorship”

Kevin Swanson

Homeschooling is the most powerful form of education rediscovered in the modern age. Its power and success is unquestioned. Yet for most home educators, the principles that worked in home education are not transferred into post-secondary education. Cutting edge visionaries are bringing a Copernican revolution to the method of higher education in the form of mentorship. If our movement takes this next step, we will make far greater impact on the way we do post-secondary education and economics, then we have seen in K-12 education. Based on years of experience with mentoring, Kevin Swanson presents a vision for mentorship applied to both the college and entrepreneurial tracks.
