You feel burned out, struggling with kids who are unmotivated and hate learning. You’re practically panicked at the thought of another day ending with failed plans. Wasn’t homeschooling supposed to be fun?
You beat yourself up, feeling like:
You just feel trapped, following a model of homeschooling that mimics a failed educational system and philosophy. But is there even another way?
Through Lifeschooling: Learning to Think Outside the Curriculum Box, you will see the educational value in everyday life and focus on developing your child’s God-given gifts, so you can raise a world-changer.
This book will help you:
Here is the basic rundown of the Four E’s of Lifeschooling:
The Four E’s are a simple way to explain what a Lifeschooling path could look like. These are meant to be incorporated in a loosely chronological way, but your own child’s particular Lifeschooling process may take them through these E’s in a more meandering journey.
However, building a solid spiritual groundwork—a Biblical Foundation—for the Four E’s to rest upon is the first crucial step.

Most homeschool moms feel pressured to check every educational box out of fear that their child won’t succeed. Lifeschooling: Learning to Think Outside the Curriculum Box helps you see the educational value in everyday life and focus on developing your child’s God-given gifts, so you can raise a world-changer.
Lifeschooling is a how-to manual for homeschoolers desiring a more relaxed approach that challenges the status quo of failed traditional school methods. In this book, you will be encouraged with practical suggestions, not only from Danielle’s own 23 years of homeschooling, but also with stories and experiences from her community of thousands of Lifeschoolers.
You will come away breathing a sigh of relief, knowing the freedom you have in Christ to help your children realize the full potential of their gifts and their life purpose. You will rest in the stability that putting Christ first in your homeschooling can bring.
This chapter breaks down my definition of Lifeschooling, then compares it with unschooling and shows how it differs, having Christianity as its foundation rather than humanism.
This section covers the issues with the failing public school system, and how many homeschooling methods still embrace a similar model, showing the importance of the Lifeschooling philosophy.
Children have God-given gifts from birth, and in this section I explain the importance of recognizing and developing them early.
This chapter is preceded with a brief introduction to four elements (The Four E’s) that come into play on the Lifeschooling journey, then moves into The Foundation.
The foundation of the “Four E’s” is discipleship, being guided in God’s Word. It is the groundwork for a successful Lifeschooling education.
This stage involves a lot of playing and reading to allow proper brain development and give plenty of exposure to various topics.
As a child learns and grows, we give them plenty of “real life” opportunities to expand their learning through chores, life skills, travel, and more.
When a child is older, it’s important to begin to introduce godly mentors and apprenticeship opportunities for one-on-one, specialized learning in the areas that match their gifts.
In this stage, children learn how to use their gifts to serve in the marketplace.
This chapter puts to rest the idea that curricula have no value in a Lifeschooling education. You will gain practical advice on how to know what curricula may be beneficial to add.
In this section, I describe our personal, non-conformist journey through the ever-daunting high school years, and how allowing my now-graduated children freedom to become experts paved the way for their success.
Writing a transcript for an outside-the-box education doesn’t have to be hard! The key is to keep good records, and we’ll cover various ways this can be done.
Some practical tips and suggestions for how to deal with those who don’t understand homeschooling, particularly a more relaxed form, such as Lifeschooling.
